The new Marsden Park and Melonba Education Campus is set to significantly enhance educational facilities in the area. This project, expected to be completed by Term 1 of 2024, will feature flexible learning spaces for around 2,000 students, including specialist classrooms, workshops, a library, and sports facilities. This development is part of a broader effort to support the rapidly growing population in Sydney’s western suburbs (MGP).
New Suburb Names and Boundaries: The Melonba area, named after a type of wattle found in the region by the Darug people, is one of the newly established suburbs in Blacktown City. This change is part of an initiative to recognize local heritage and manage the area's growth effectively. The boundaries of these new suburbs are based on natural and built features like creeks and railway lines (Mirage News).
School Construction in Melonba: The construction of new schools in Melonba is a priority, with significant local support. The community had been promised these facilities for years, and the current government is fulfilling these commitments. Once completed, the new Melonba High School and Public School will serve up to 4,600 students from the surrounding areas, marking a substantial improvement in local educational infrastructure (Mirage News).
These developments reflect the ongoing growth and investment in the Marsden Park and Melonba communities, with a focus on enhancing educational opportunities and recognizing local heritage.
