New M7 Flyover Design Unveiled, Richmond Road to Expand

Richmond Road will get more lanes and a dedicated flyover connection from the M7 Motorway under designs for upgrade work released today.

An additional $260 million from the Australian Government announced in the recent Federal Budget matches the $260 million committed to the project by the NSW Government to ensure the project is delivered.

Widening work for Richmond Road will be a direct benefit to the fast-growing communities between Richmond and Blacktown, including the nearby suburbs of Marsden Park, Berkshire Park, Colebee and Riverstone.

Richmond Road is the primary arterial route for those communities to access the M7, making it a vital connection to places of work, businesses and schools around Western Sydney.

The planned 2.2 kilometre upgrade between Townson Road and the motorway at Colebee will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and enhance safety on Richmond Road, with early work commencing from 2027.

Improvements include expanding lane capacity from four to six lanes, as well as a new concrete bridge over Bells Creek featuring a separated pedestrian and bicycle path.

Intersection upgrades will improve safety for pedestrians, with new staged crossings at Townson Road and Alderton Drive, while additional dedicated right-turn lanes onto Hollinsworth Road and Rooty Hill Road North will address congestion at these intersections.

An extended right-turn lane onto the southbound lane of the M7 Motorway will increase capacity for queueing vehicles.
